I am a PC guy, but I am also familiar with Macs. I love the Sony VAIO…this is my third one since 2001 and they are all still working great. This new one though is the best. My favorite aspects are the beautiful screen, Windows 7, and the Blu-ray player. I have used it for a couple weeks now, and it really is a laptop I just love to work on. The new graphical items in Windows 7 are awesome, which makes the user experience much more fun. The VAIO also comes with pre-installed software, but it’s all stuff you want to keep on it–like the Sony audio/video applications. And again, I just can’t stress enough how wonderful the screen is. My wife is a photographer, and she has taken some photos that just have that “so real” look to them on the screen…kind of like viewing a Blu-ray moview on a great TV. I am very pleased with this purchase.

I bought this notebook to replace my older Vaio.
The screen is beautiful, it plays blu ray movies, I love the keyboard and Windows 7 is excellent!
The only thing I dislike is the placement of the USB ports. Other than that, I’m very happy with my purchase.

- Wide & bright screen, good enough to watch movies.
- Fancy body design, looks beautiful.
- Spaced keys, makes typing very comfortable.
- good quality webcam/mic that works in low light and can track face movements.
Cons:
- Short Battery life.
- Does not have the modem jack as it shows in the product description and the picture.
- No backup OS DVD. Recovery partition on HDD.
Overall a good desktop replacement.

Im completely impressed, it is the best laptop i have ever had, the screen is excellent, great for gaming, it makes no sounds at all, great keyboard,decent audio, bluray is great, hdmi conection is really smooth, i just love it, and this comes from a mac user.

I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate ($238 upgrade) so I could use the XP mode to use an xp business software that I have. Then I found out the processor in this machine does not support something call Virtual Technology and won’t run the XP mode without it. So I’m screwed with a $1000 computer that isn’t much use to me and now I have to buy another one. I hope this saves someone a headache.

Shipping was super fast and arrived well cushioned in a larger box with plenty of packing peanuts, many thanks to the shipper (Electronic Express). Overall couldn’t be happier w/ this laptop.. not only is it super light, screen is crisp and bright, but the design and quality of materials used is outstanding for this price. Personally I think it looks nicer than mac for nearly half the price! Win7 functions like a champ. My favorite is the edge to edge keyboard with full numeric pad, very handy for finances and spreadsheets. This is one gorgeous and outstanding laptop for this price; I would be very hard pressed to find a comparable laptop on the market today. Anyway go buy it, you’ve got my word this is an excellent buy for your buck!

I’ve been searching for a laptop for a while and I think I have found the perfect one of me. I work in accounting so having the numeric keypad was very important to me. The look is very sleek and I got a purple keyboard cover from the Sony store so that is very cute. This is a great work and play computer.

I do love this laptop a lot.Search websites with the one touch WEB bottom is brilliant.Screen display beautiful and does not catch fingerprints.Of course there is nowhere to find this particular laptop with this low price.Please don’t hesitate and buy it,I promise you will be happy!

First off, ordered the computer with a 2 day express shipping, it arrived while I was
away, left by the UPS guys, my wife found it under our door mat, lucky it wasn’t raining
as the computer was shipped in the Sony box, not box in an Amazon box with any packing!!!
BUT, the computer seems undamaged and is working fine, WHEW,
The Sony label was broke, the top of the box was crushed in, if I were home,
I would have refused the delivery!!
But, as I say, it all seems ok, luckily! As I leave for Korea on Monday and
wanted to bring this along.
Speed it seems to be fine, screen is nice and clear and bright, but viewing
movies seems not as good as I had hoped, but I guess for what the resoultion
was listed as, it will have to do, it’s not terrible, but I guess I was expecting
a high crispness which isn’t there.
